Following were the activities conducted by WSC during April 2011 to March 2012:

Conferences, Consultations, Lectures, Workshops:

  • Meeting on Plans of WSC and exploring the possibilities of collaborative efforts with various educational institutions and NGO’s.
  • Training workshop on “Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace”
  • State level consultation on “Right to Abortion, Sex Selection and Eugenics”
  • International Conference on “Feminism and the Law: Revisiting the Past, Rethinking the Present and Thinking the Way Forward”
  • Prof. S.P. Sathe Memorial Lecture by Prof. Ratna Kapur on “An Epitaph or Born Again? Critical Reflections on Feminist Engagements with Law in India”
  • WSC and Nisha Dhanagare Memorial Foundation jointly organized a consultation on “Assisted Reproductive Technology and Women’s Rights”

Training and Workshops:

  • Conducted one day training on ‘Child Marriage – its physical, psychological and sociological adverse effect on the woman and provisions of Child Marriage Prohibition Act’, at Vikas Deep Prakalpa, Mangaon, Dist. Raigad
  • Conducted one day training on Implementation of PCPNDT Act’ at Center for Leadership, Committee of Resource Organizations (CORO) at Aurangabad

Research Projects:

  •  Preliminary Survey on Misuse of Section 498-A, IPC – Survey of the Police Stations in  Pune
  •  Effect of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 (PWDV Act) on  Women’s Rights
  •  Socio-legal Problems faced by Women in Urban Slums

Moot Court Competition:

  •  Prof. S.P. Sathe Memorial Annual National Moot Court Competition was held on 25th  and 26th February 2012


  •  One MSW student interned with WSC from November 2011 to April 2012


  •  Website of WSC was launched
